With many innovative security features similar to the $5, $10 and $50 banknotes, including the top to bottom window, features to help the visually impaired to distinguish different notes, distinctive texture of the raised dark printing, 3D images and reversing number. More detail on the innovations and characters on the new $20 note is available from the Reserve Bank, learn more here rba.gov.au/australias-banknotes/next-generation-banknotes-program/
What machines will be affected?
While many aspects of the existing design – colour and size – have been retained for ease of recognition, the new notes will affect cash management safes, gaming machines, vending machines and other machines which include note readers. Current banknote acceptors or readers will not be able to recognise the new note. A software upgrade to your existing note reader or a new note reader will be required and is available from Tank Safes Australia.
